This week, they worked in collaborative groups to create a real or invented instrument of their choice along with harmonicas and glove-a-phones as accompaniments. When the instruments are ready, groups will head outdoors to test them out and perform songs. Students have been learning the science behind musical instruments, such as how sound is an energy that vibrates and travels in waves, and that the pitches or notes depend on the range of sounds the instrument can make and its size.  It’s wonderful to see students teach each other about their understanding of these concepts!

In order to help direct traffic, we would appreciate some volunteers.  If you are available to help, even if it is only once a week, please take a moment and use this form to sign-up.

All families, please help us to ensure safety by doing the following things:

  • If at all possible, walk to school. Please remember that only one adult should accompany students on campus.

  • Remind your children to use the crosswalks - even adults. We have seen children darting across the street without looking so that they can get to their parent’s car. We have also seen adults not use the crosswalk. Please help us by being good role models.

  • Be mindful that the crossing guards are required to walk anyone who is 15 and under.  Even if a parent is with them, please wait for them to signal when it is deemed safe to cross.

  • No stopping or dropping off at the “No Stopping” zone. This area needs to remain clear so that our buses have room to enter and exit.

  • Remain in your vehicles at all times when in the drop off zone.

  • When driving through the drop off zone, SLOW DOWN.

  • Please move your car all the way forward in the drop off zone. Do not stop at the beginning if there are no cars in front of you.
  • Everyone is required to be wearing a mask during pick-up and drop off times.

One way to help with congestion and parking is to allow yourselves plenty of time. This way students are not late and your mornings will be less stressful.  Remember that the church parking lot is not available for our use.

Safety is paramount! Please -- let’s all do our part.

Thank you!

With 2021 drawing to a close, we could not resist a chance to express our appreciation and gratitude for our caring, devoted community and send fond wishes for a happy and healthy winter break. This is the perfect time of year to say thank you for the gift of partnership that you give to us all year long! Forest Hill would not be the same without the strong support of our families and community.

Looking back on this year, we know it has not been easy. We continue to face new challenges and make difficult adjustments, sometimes on a daily basis. We thank you for all the flexibility and support you have given in 2021. It makes us optimistic that 2022 will be even better!

This December, we hope that you receive the amount of happiness and joy that you bring to us all year long! We wish you a restful winter break spent with loved ones. We will see everyone back at school on January 3.

Best Regards and Happy New Year,Anna Chitwood, Principal

Hosted by our staff, this event is an opportunity for students of all ages to build their home libraries and further their love of reading. As always, all purchases benefit our school.

After missing out on many beloved traditions, our fall Book Fair will be a familiar, welcome, and safe event for our students. Here’s what you need to know about the Fair, which will take place December 13th-17th in our library and online.

  • Our Book Fair offers a cash-free payment option called eWallet. It’s a convenient digital account that your child can use for shopping at our Fair. Grandparents, friends, and others can contribute, too!
  • If you can’t make it to the Fair, then shop online at our school’s Virtual Book Fair. All orders ship directly to your home, and shipping is free for book orders over $25. Your online orders will also benefit our school.

Visit our Book Fair homepage to learn more and get started with eWallet and online shopping:  https://www.scholastic.com/bf/fhpta

We’re excited to celebrate our love of books together at the Book Fair. We look forward to seeing your child there.

Happy Reading!

We are so grateful for all our students, who are the reason for everything we do. The diversity of our community allows for them to have a wonderful learning experience where they can grow not only academically, but socially and emotionally as well. They have endured a lot recently due to the pandemic, but so many of them are thrilled to be at school and are always putting their best foot forward. We are thankful for this and their continued perseverance to be the best that they can be. Thank you, Falcons!

We are extraordinarily grateful for our parents and community. Parents and caregivers are valued partners in our educational journey, and we appreciate all that you do to support your children at home. We thank all of you for being so giving which allows us to provide enriching activities such as art, STEM, across the curriculum assemblies, and much much more. Through the support of you and our amazing PTA, we would not be able to do this, so thank you!!

And of course, we cannot forget our staff.  Every single employee at Forest Hill is committed to bringing the highest quality education to our students. They spend countless hours planning and working collaboratively to ensure that we can meet all our students’ needs. Our staff members ensure that Forest Hill is a safe and supportive place to be. Thank you always for your dedication, compassion for students, and hard work, and especially thank you during stressful and difficult times like we are currently experiencing.

This is a wonderful time of the year to get together with friends and family to celebrate and be thankful for all the wonderful people in our lives. On behalf of the Forest Hill staff, we would like to thank you for your continued support and wish you all a safe and happy holiday. We will see everyone back at school on November 29th.

Best Regards,

Anna Chitwood, Principal

This will be especially important on rainy days since children will be spread out throughout the campus to comply with the 6 feet distancing while eating indoors.

We have three staggered lunches that begin at 11:30 AM and end at 1:05 PM. If you are willing to volunteer, please reach out to Ms. Chitwood by emailing her at achitwood [at] campbellusd.org. She will help you with the volunteer application process. Thank you!
