What is Happening in STEM?

4th and 5th grade students are constantly expanding their knowledge and creativity in weekly STEM classes!

This week, they worked in collaborative groups to create a real or invented instrument of their choice along with harmonicas and glove-a-phones as accompaniments. When the instruments are ready, groups will head outdoors to test them out and perform songs. Students have been learning the science behind musical instruments, such as how sound is an energy that vibrates and travels in waves, and that the pitches or notes depend on the range of sounds the instrument can make and its size.  It’s wonderful to see students teach each other about their understanding of these concepts!
