Students had freedom to use whatever materials they wanted, but the container could not be larger than 7 inches square. We had several successful egg drops and quite a few scrambled eggs! Afterwards, students discussed what they could learn from their project if it didn't survive the drop. They talked about how they could modify their design if they were to try it again. It was amazing to see the wide variety of projects that students created!

Please make sure your child arrives to school on time each day.  Testing can be stressful and being late to school will only add to your child’s stress.  We want all students to have every advantage to do well!

So that our students may have their best opportunity to succeed and demonstrate all that they’ve learned this year, we ask that you...

  • Have your child get a good night’s rest.
  • Have your child eat a healthy breakfast and arrive with a healthy snack.  A breakfast which is high in protein and low in sugar is best to build stamina for testing and helps promote focus.
  • Make it a priority to arrive on time.  The first bell rings at 8:10 AM and testing will begin right after attendance is taken.
  • Schedule all activities and appointments after school hours.
  • Make travel plans for the summer, not when school is in session.
  • Encourage your child to “do their best”, but do not put any undue pressure on them.

Our Principal’s Coffee that is scheduled on Thursday, April 28th @ 8:30AM will focus on what this assessment is and how to support your student. The flier with the zoom link will be shared with parents through Parent Square next week.  In the meantime, you may also want to check out these resources for more information:

They brought several animals currently under their care. Our Falcons got to meet a real falcon and learn lots of facts about her. We also met an owl named Owlivia, a turkey vulture with a sprained shoulder, and a gopher snake whose injury means he slithers backwards! Students loved interacting up close with local wildlife. Thank you PTA for arranging this fun assembly!

All students who are identified as second language learners will be tested.  This test helps determine how much growth they have made with English in the areas of speaking, listening, reading, and writing. This assessment helps determine next steps for instruction, as well as reclassifying students who show proficiency in all the domains tested.

Please make it a priority to arrive on time since we start the assessments first thing in the morning.

So that our students may have their best opportunity to succeed and demonstrate all that they’ve learned this year, we ask that you...

  • Have your child get a full night of sleep during this time period.

  • Have your child eat a healthy breakfast and arrive with a snack.

  • Make it a priority to arrive on time.

  • Schedule all activities and appointments after school hours.

This week, 3rd grade hosted a biography wax museum. Students researched and wrote about the life of a famous person (from history or current times) and came to school dressed as that person. When in "museum" mode, students stood as still as statues waiting for visitors to come ask for information about their person.

It was incredible to see the creativity and dedication students put into their performances! We got to meet and learn about people such as Amelia Earhart, Jane Goodall, Jackie Robinson, Kamala Harris, and King Tut. Great job, third grade!

This week, Mrs. Ross and three of our fourth grade students have been selling handprints to students for $1. We are very proud of these students since they independently reached out wanting to help and have been eagerly volunteering.

Students are decorating the handprints and displaying them in our library as a way of lending a hand. All proceeds will go to the World Central Kitchen in an effort to provide some aid for Ukraine.  See attached flyer for more details and how you can help.
