Forest Hill parents offer ideas for smoother drop-off and pick-up flow at school in this short video.
School News
During a Living Classroom lesson, students studied compost, made predictions about what would be in it. They wrote down their observations. Our scientists used a variety of tools to look at organic material. Most saw small twigs, leaves, worms, sow bugs, and rollie pollies. Students were so enthusiastic and engaged that Mrs. Hill might have created some future biologists!

Students and staff are encouraged to show their school spirit by wearing their uniform, team jersey, hat, t-shirt or colors of their favorite sports team.
We are thrilled to announce that Phase 1 of constructing our brand new administration building and site modernization will begin on Monday, February 21, 2022.
During the February Break and through the summer months, the old knowledge center will be converted into a beautiful new building for our main office, staff workroom, and much needed office space for our school psychologist and behaviorists. In June, the outdoor eating area for students will be remodeled and beautified. At a future date, the current administration building and cafeteria will be transformed into a beautiful new multi purpose space.

Safety First!
In order to maintain safety while school is in session, we want our community to be aware of a few changes to parking, drop-off and pick-up:
-
Impacts to parking and traffic flow. We will not have access to the small side parking lot or the bus circle for the next few months. Traffic on our current drop-off circle will be impacted.
-
Gate change for some students. Students that are currently using Gate 1 will need to use the side gates instead.
-
Allow more time for drop off and pick up. When we return from the February Break, these high-volume times are likely to be longer, and we ask that our families work with us to minimize the impacts as much as possible.
Here are are few ideas that may help keep everyone safe during peak traffic times:
-
If you typically use the drop off circle, consider arriving early and parking down the street to walk students to campus (please remember there is no school parking in the church parking lot next door).
-
Arrive at school a few minutes earlier than normal.
-
Arrange a carpool with a neighbor so that fewer cars need to come to campus.
-
Start walking to school if possible. It’s possible that your neighborhood could organize a “walking school bus” where students are picked up from houses along the way.
-
Remind your child about safe practices when walking to or from school.
Other ideas are welcome for consideration. I know that our creative and resourceful Forest Hill Family can manage a few growing pains as we look ahead to the freshly remodeled areas of our campus.
Instead, this Friday, February 11th will be Dress-up Red Day to celebrate our last day of our Kids Heart Challenge. Our students have been working hard at jumping rope to keep their hearts strong, as well.

This committee holds 4-5 meetings a year so that parents of English learners can provide input on programs and services for English Learners at Forest Hill.
On Friday, we will be reviewing the importance of attendance and strategies parents can use to ensure students get to school on time.
Students wore red, which symbolizes good fortune, luck, and prosperity. They created their own dragon headpiece or dragon masks and played musical instruments as they walked. The parade ended with a "fireworks" display -- students had fun stomping on bubble wrap to make popping sounds. It sounded just like real fireworks! Forest Hill Falcons love learning about celebrations from around the world.
In an effort to foster this, we decided to participate in the Kids Heart Challenge.
