District Enrollment Process

Please view our Forest Hill introduction video and learn more about our school.

Updated Sun, Dec 1st

This week, Forest Hill families and staff offered input as to the qualities they desire in a new principal, and they appear to be in sync. They asked District administrators to seek an experienced educator who is approachable, fosters a positive learning environment, and is able to inspire the staff to achieve educational excellence.

The job posting will close Friday, November 22, according to Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources Lena Bundtzen. The input from parents and staff will be incorporated into the District’s three-part interview process that is planned to begin in early December.

“We are dedicated to finding the right leader for Forest Hill, one who is best suited to implement the school and District’s mission and vision,” said District Superintendent Shelly Viramontez.

The flu virus and other respiratory “bugs” are most common during the fall and winter. Health professionals recommend several effective precautions to help slow the spread of germs that cause respiratory (nose, throat, and lungs) illnesses, like the flu.

  1. Get a flu vaccine each year.
  2. Avoid contact with people who are sick.
  3. Cover coughs and sneezes.
  4. Wash hands frequently.
  5. Get plenty of rest.

If your child does become ill, please report the absence by calling  (408) 341-7132.

If you will be going on vacation, try to plan them on school holidays. If you not able to, and will be gone 5 days or longer, please come into the office and inquire about an Independent Study Agreement.

Please notify the office every day that your child is absent from school.  To report an absence, call 408-341-7132 for the 24 hr. attendance line.

If you have seen a medical professional, please bring us a doctor's note to have your child's absence medically verified.

Your student is allowed 10 days of parent verified absence due to an illness for the school year. After the 10 days, you will need to bring in a doctor's note to clear the absences.

Vacations are not excused absences. Vacation and absences other than illness are considered unexcused and will generate truancy letters.

Please ensure you have labeled all jackets, coats, sweatshirts and lunchboxes. If your child comes home with an item that doesn't belong to them, please return to the lost and found. The Lost and Found is located on a rack in front of the library.

During STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) class, 4th and 5th grade students have been discussing energy and how it travels in waves.  We have also discussed seismic energy and earthquakes.  We are finishing up our bridge presentations and starting the braced towers.  We will be testing them with the earthquake tables when they are complete.  We also enjoyed a fun candy corn science/chemistry investigation this week.
We are still collecting toilet paper, paper towel rolls and shoeboxes. Please bring them to Room 14.
