The children are thrilled, and we are happy to be able to engage with them again in person. It fills our hearts and has reminded us why we are in the field of education. We wanted to share some shout outs:

Teachers/Staff- Thank you for your hard work, flexibility, and commitment to our students. This year has been a tough one for everyone. We recognize how hard you work to bring the best to our students,

Students- For working hard and adjusting to all the new safety protocols. They have been doing an awesome job with wearing their masks and playing in their assigned zones. Also, thank you for remembering to walk your bikes and scooters when on campus. Safety is always first!

Parents- Thank you for making sure you are dropping off your students as close as possible to their drop off times, remaining in your cars, and only having one adult drop them off. We know it has been nice seeing each other. Please remember that for safety reasons we need to minimize crowds so thank you to those who are moving off campus as soon as they drop off their little ones and during pick up time.

PTA- They have been our rock! Thank you for your willingness to help in any way possible and for the amazing luncheon in honor of teacher/staff appreciation week. It was delicious!

Friendly Reminders:

•Wednesday is early dismissal: K-3 @ 11:45, 4-5 @ 12:00 and SDC @ 12:15

• We have a designated coned off area on campus for 1-3 siblings to wait for their older siblings to get out. This way parents can come at the later time to pick up all their children. This will prevent parents from waiting around and help with congestion. We have the same system for the mornings, as well.

• If your child is ill, keep them home. We need you to reach out to our health clerk, Denise Figueira, and let her know. When you call or email, it is very helpful if you let us know what your child’s symptoms are. Students with any COVID symptoms will be sent home and will be able to return to school when we have received a negative COVID test or a letter from the doctor stating that their illness is not related to COVID.

Although we could not see the smiles behind many people's masks, it was evident in their eyes and the level of excitement. Children and staff were excited to be back on campus. What memorable and historic reopening days they have been! It has raised our spirits and has brought a lot of joy to all of us. Teachers and staff members are SO thrilled to have the children back in their classrooms!

A huge shout out to everyone because this would not be possible without everyone's cooperation. Students have been doing a great job with wearing masks, following safety protocols, and following all playground rules. The teachers did an amazing job prepping them prior to arrival and reinforcing all these necessary changes, not to mention all the planning to ensure students both at home and on campus continue their learning. Parents also need a huge shout out. Thank you for making sure students are ready to be at school. We appreciate your efforts to ensure that students are dropped off and picked up at their assigned time and gates. We truly appreciate you, too!!!

When students return to school on March 22nd for K to 2nd grades and on March 29th for 3rd to 5th grades, ALL students will be expected to wear a mask at all times when they are not eating or drinking. Please make sure that the mask fits well and that your child has practiced wearing it for extended periods of time.
Also, drinking fountains have been turned off, so each child should bring  a water bottle with their name on it and a snack to eat at recess time. Children will not be eating lunch at school, but "grab & go" bag lunches will be provided for any student who wants to take one home to eat it there.

We are so excited that after one year we can safely reopen our campus for students to attend school in person. K-2 and all SDC classes return on March 22nd and 3rd-5th grade classes on March 29th. Please take the time to review the attached To Do document PRIOR to returning to school in person. It is a summary of what has already been shared in the parent handbook, but with the focus of the first day back.

We cannot even begin to stress the importance of being on time and following the gate assignments. These procedures have been put in place to ensure everyone's safety. Please take the time prior to the first day to show your child which gate they will need to go through. We have included maps to help. Also, please remember that parents will not be permitted on campus. We assure you that between you preparing your child and the procedures we have put in place all our kiddos will make it safely into their classrooms.

Last week an email was sent from our school regarding the Phase II Plan.  This email contained time sensitive information as well as cohort assignments for your student(s).  Please be sure to check your email and/or spam. If you did not receive it, call the office so that we can make sure you receive all future communications.

Please note that parents who are not yet ready to send their child to school in-person need to let us know by completing this form no later than March 5th by noon.  If you complete this form, you are committing to Distance Learning during phase II of the Hybrid model.  The plans on how this will look will be dependent on how many people opt for this and will be compliant with the instructional requirements of SB98.

Please take time to review the parent handbook that has been previously shared as well as review the PowerPoint that was presented at the Principal Coffee in December. This will show you how we have set things up to ensure everyone’s safe return.

We continue to teach the 12 tools using the TOOLBOX curriculum. These tools  enable us to provide the common language, strategies and practices to strengthen our students cognitive/academic functions and the physical, emotional and social development needed.

The last few weeks, our teachers have been focusing on “Using our Words” tool. This tool focuses on words and their power–finding the right words, and then using them in the right way, at the right time, and for the right reasons. In order to have healthy relationships, we must be able to express our own thoughts and feelings, and be willing to invite others to do the same. Feel free to view the grades K-3 and/or 4-6 parent letters, that also provides a home activity.
