School News

Thank you for all your help with our recent shoe donation drive. Our girls made posters requesting donations of shoes and were so excited to receive 452 pairs to donate to families in Ghana and kids in Liberia. The girls were thrilled to count the shoes and box them up. We greatly appreciate all your support!

As a community, we need to work together to solve the traffic issues that occur each day. We will be having a strong campaign next year to reduce the traffic on McCoy Avenue. Please create a plan for your family for next year if you currently drive to Forest Hill.
I strongly encourage families to do one of the following next school year.
- Walk to School everyday
- Start a Walking School Bus with your neighbors. One parent picks up a group of children in your neighborhood and walks them to school.
- Park in the neighborhood and walk the rest of the way. This would help decrease the number of cars on McCoy Ave. There is a back gate on Sillaci Drive that families could use also.
- Park at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church and walk your student onto the campus.
Pre-ordered yearbooks were distributed to students on Friday May 29th. If you did not pre order a yearbook and would like to purchase one, they will be on sale after school at the picnic tables and in the school office for $30. We will sell until we run out.

Stop by before Tuesday, June 9th and find your missing sweatshirts, jackets, sweaters, hats, and lunch pails. All remaining clothes will be given to a local shelter.
The 2015- 2016 Student Calendar has been included in the Friday Folder, please make note of student holidays and arrange travel plans for the coming year accordingly. If you are planning to have your child miss school for a trip, please contact Miss Jackie as soon as possible. There are policies and procedures for students who miss school.
WOW! What an amazing event we had last weekend! For those who missed it, we had our first annual Forest Hill STEM Festival called Planet Falcon. We had booths on many educational and engaging topics. We also had many community organizations come to our event as well. Thank you to the Campbell Fire Department; Rural Ambulance Company; Open Space Preserve and the Campbell Amateur Radio Service. Our own students lead the following booths for everyone to explore and learn.
- Human body exploration
- Dinosaur fossil excavation
- Diet coke and Mentos explosions
- Extracting strawberry DNA
- Computer games
- Building a Rube Goldberg machine
- Making your own batteries
- Quizzes and optical illusions
- LEGO roller coasters and Rubik’s cube solving robot
- Quad-copter and mini blimp flights
- Exploring sound and music
A big thanks to our parent volunteers for helping to make Planet Falcon happen. I greatly appreciate the hard work, time and effort Mrs. Lalita Godbole put into this event. I look forward to next year’s Planet Falcon!
What a great year we have had here at Fabulous Forest Hill! Each day was filled with thinking, learning, and living together as a community. Thank you to teachers, staff, parents, family members, friends, and students for helping us all to use our hearts and minds well. Remember to Read, Read, Read this summer!

There is an upcoming STEM Event on Saturday, July 11, 2015 from 10am-4pm at San Jose Reid Hillview Airport - 2500 Cunningham Ave, San Jose. This is not a Forest Hill event, but it's a great way to continue your child's education during summer break.
