Educating every child to their highest potential means developing their strengths in both math and literacy. For example, Ms. Nulty's Transitional Kindergarten students discussed the artibutes of their apple and then charted this information in a bar graph.

"Profile of a Graduate" is our commitment to students and the community. It calls upon students and the adults who support them to be Self-Directed, Innovative, Collaborative, Empathetic, Critical Thinkers. Students at Forest Hill are developing their Self-Directed skills through our PTA supported Art Programs. Mrs. Hardt teaches students in grades TK-4th grade. Montalvo Arts provides instruction to grade 5. This is one example of how Forest Hill School is educating students to their highest potential.

Forest Hill students will be dismissed from school at 12:30pm the week of October 7th-October 11th. Please ensure you have signed up for your parent teacher conference with your classroom teacher. Students will have lunch at school every day that week.
Building a strong foundation of skills in reading is central to our mission of educating every child to their highest potential. For example, Ms. Ishimatsu works with her students in a small group each day to ensure students are getting direct support on the skills they need. She is working hard to ensure all her students are readers by third grade.
The Importance of Parent Involvement in Schooling Research shows that youth whose parents are actively involved in their schooling are more engaged in school. Students are less likely to be delinquent or drop out, and more likely to achieve higher grades and standardized test scores. Joyce Epstein of the National Network of Partnership Schools developed a framework for understanding six different kinds of parent involvement:
1. Parenting: families establish home environments that support children’s learning
2. Communicating: families and schools engage in effective two-way communications about student expectations and progress
3. Volunteering: parents directly support the classroom or school
4. Learning at home: families help students with homework and school-related decisionmaking and planning
5. Decision making: parents are involved in school decisions
6. Community collaboration: community services are resources integrated to strengthen schools and families
