Our new recess program is making a big impact on our students. Students have been engaged in soccer tournaments, jumping ropes teams and large-scale dodge ball games. Please come out and see this new amazing program in action. Another perk to this program is students are moving their bodies more at recess time. If your child has come home to share about this program, please send Mrs. Khalid a note.

On Saturday, September 19th, many Forest Hill students and scouts from Troop 333 showed up early to help clean up San Tomas Creek behind our school. Student volunteers included Joseph and Emily Crecelius, William Louderback, Jack Cramer, Rey Sanchez, Gavin and Vivian Mitchell, Joseph Darlington, Andrew Chen, and Alex Sabahat. They helped to pick up nearly 200 pounds of trash out of the creek. One unusual item found was a metal picnic bench! Thank you to Mrs. Kostlan and Mrs. Crecelius for organizing this event.
The scores are in! This year’s scores are better thought of as a starting point or baseline for the progress we expect students to make over time. We see these tests as an academic checkup. Similar to class assignments and report cards, they are just one measurement in a set of tools on student progress used to provide you and your child’s teacher(s) with information about your student’s work toward the high goals we have set.
The assessment results indicate our students performed well in some content areas and need more support in other content areas. We expect to see both individual and district student achievement growth in subsequent administrations of the CAASPP assessments.
Once the official results are received, your child’s teacher(s) will use them to help set learning goals for his/her students this year. A copy of the results will also be sent to you in mid-October.
If you have questions or concerns about the report, please call the school office to arrange a conference with your student’s teacher(s).
Are you or do you know someone who is looking for exciting challenges and opportunities to make a difference in the lives of students in a supportive and fun environment? There are many job opportunities in the district. We currently are in need of both classified and certificated substitutes as well as hourly nursing support. For more information about the many job opportunities available in the district, please go to https://www.edjoin.org/Home/JobPosting/711812
Proficient English skills required, proficient Spanish skills desired.
I wanted to provide an update regarding the passing of our student Logan Walter Martinez. As you may recall, Logan passed away due to a swimming accident this summer. Our school community is deeply saddened by this event. Logan’s family has asked for some time and space to grieve. When they are ready, we will be having a school dedication ceremony in honor of Logan. If you or your child would like more information regarding counseling services our school district is providing, please contact Denise Khalid or Jackie Morris. Thank you for the love and well wishes you are sending to Logan’s family.

We are pleased to announce our new playground program. Little Heroes provides schools with a Coach to interact with students on the playground. Our coach is named Ray Maldonado.
Little Heroes knows the value of providing youth with fun and inclusive games to play at recess time. Coach Ray will help organize play activities and train staff to be more involved during recess times. Coach Ray will also provide youth leadership opportunities, which allow students to gain more ownership over their school.
Please come by at recess or lunch to meet Coach Ray.
