In February, we were informed that Forest Hill had qualified to apply for the prestigious California Distinguished School Award. It is with great pleasure that we report to you that State Superintendent of Schools Tom Torlakson announced that our application was approved. We will be receiving the California Distinguished School Award for 2018. This is a great accomplishment since it represents the hard work of all of our dedicated staff members, wonderful students, and amazingly supportive community members. Congratulations to all! Representatives will accept the award on May 3rd in Anaheim.

Last Call! We will be collecting gently used books again this April. All books will be donated to the San Jose Night Walks program. There will be a collection bin near our library and front office. Thank you for supporting our community.

Please mark your calendars! Our 4th annual science festival Planet Falcon will be held on Saturday April 28th, 2018 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The various teams participating this year are: Lego, Coding, Life Science, Wacky Chemistry, "Everyday items, to fix a boat leak", Energy & Power, Heliocentrics & Microbit Coding. We will have guest showcases from Rural Ambulance, Santa Clara County Fire Truck, Open Space Authority and many more.

Campbell Union School District's Superintendent, Dr. Shelly Viramontez, will be here on Tuesday, May 1st at 8:15am to sit down and have coffee with the families of Forest Hill. Please join us for some great conversation and any questions you may have. Hope to see you there.

Help! What are my kids doing over the summer? Please join Mrs. Khalid on Friday, April 20th at 8:15 am in the library to discuss the summer programs offered in our school district and within Santa Clara Country. On Wednesday, April 25 and Wednesday, May 9 will be next walking school bus days. We will have 3 walking school bus locations for your student to join depending on where you live. A walking school bus is when an adult leads a group of children on a set route to their school. Each adult will follow all safety procedures and will have a first aid pack with them on the route. Parents are encouraged to walk with their child but it is not required.
- Mrs. Khalid (Principal) will be at the corner of Elam Ave and Harriet Ave at 7:45am (parents can use the church parking lot to drop off their student)
- Miss Jackie (Secretary) will be at the corner of Quito Rd. and McCoy (YMCA Parking Lot) at 7:50 (parents can use the YMCA parking lot to drop off their student)
- Mr. Brandon Reese (Parent) will be at the corner of Silacci and Westmont High School at 7:50
Please feel free to join the closest walking school bus to your home.

We need your help! Mrs. Khalid (Principal) is very concerned that we will not have a functioning PTA for next year. We have many open positions for our Parent & Teacher Association. Without proper support, we will not be able to offer our students extension opportunities.
Board Positions:
- Co - President - Assist the President in the organization and running of the PTA. Draft monthly newsletters and keep the calendar updated, order and manage marketing supplies.
- Committee Chairs
- Silent Auction - The chair person will take care of our silent auction in October, contacting vendors and donors for baskets and organizing baskets with classroom leads and teachers and handling the sales. Work usually starts in Summer and is done in Fall.
