Poetry in Second Grade

The love of poetry is evident in Mrs. Hill’s second grade class.

Students get to sit together regularly as they enjoy reading poems with each other. This activity not only fosters the love of reading and poetry, but also builds teamwork and reading skills. These activities help students build oral fluency, practice phonics skills, teach content, and learn new vocabulary. Choral reading as a group also builds teamwork.  Some of the shyest students have an opportunity to shine! We look forward to when we can start inviting parents again to Mrs. Hill’s monthly poetry parties.
