Thank you to our Girls on the Run coaches Andrea Szymanowski, Erin Rupp, Sheri Stuckey and Leah Harris for supporting our 3rd-5th grade girls. Good luck to our runners and the 5K they will run in May.

At Girls on the Run we inspire girls to recognize their inner strength and celebrate what makes them one of a kind. Trained coaches lead small teams through our research-based curricula which includes dynamic discussions, activities and running games. Over the course of the ten-week program, girls in 3rd-8th grade develop essential skills to help them navigate their worlds and establish a lifetime appreciation for health and fitness. The program culminates with girls positively impacting their communities through a service project and being physically and emotionally prepared to complete a celebratory 5K event.

Happy Spring! This Friday, April 19th is our annual Walk-A-Thon fundraiser. All family members are welcome to walk with us. We begin walking at 1:00pm. This is a one of my favorite events of the year. I love seeing our community come together to cheer and support our students. This fundraiser helps cover the cost of student field trips, Mrs. Hardt's Art Program and our school librarian Mrs. Reed. Thank you for your donations!

Continuing the success from last year, we will again be collecting books throughout the month of April. All books will be donated to help children in the South Bay. San Jose Night Walks is an organization that makes weekly visits to San Jose neighborhoods with high crime rates. Books are distributed every Friday night during summer and are in great demand. Currently their inventory is very low. Please drop off your books outside the school library by April 30th.

All 3rd, 4th and 5th Graders Need to be at School for State Testing!

Formal State Testing (CAASPP) will begin at Forest Hill on Monday, April 29th.  All 3rd-5th graders will be testing.  It is very important that all students are present during testing times.  If a student is absent, s/he will have to make up the test (missing important classroom instruction).  In addition, make-ups are logistically difficult to administer. If you already know of appointments scheduled during testing times, please reschedule them so that everyone is present for testing.

If you would like additional information about the CAASPP, please visit the Parent/Student tab of the CDE CAASPP Web page at http://www.cde.ca.gov/ta/tg/ca/.

We have noticed an increase in the speed of the cars driving on McCoy before and after school. The speed limit is 25 miles per hour. Also, many cars are running the stop signs on McCoy Avenue. Please follow all safety rules while driving. The crossing guards are not directing traffic. They are directing the adults and children who are walking in the crosswalk. Thank you for keeping our community safe.
