Forest Hill Elementary School

Logan Walter Martinez

Dear Forest Hill Families,

One of the things that make Forest Hill such a wonderful school is the supportive family community present here. Unfortunately as a family, while we are able to celebrate with one another, there are also times when we need to grieve together. It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I share the passing of our second grade student, Logan Walter Martinez. Logan was swimming at his grandparents’ home in Alabama and had a terrible and tragic accident this past Sunday.

Logan was in Ms. Lee’s kindergarten class and Mrs. Schubert’s first grade class. Logan’s parents have both been a vital and important part of the FH community. Logan’s father, Walter Martinez was our Project Cornerstone lead parent and yard duty support person.

We have provided district counseling support to our staff as well as a partnership with the Center for Living and Dying. If you or your child would like to speak with someone, we are working to have staff from the Center for Living with Dying at our site on Wednesday afternoon at 2:15 in the library.

If you would like to make a donation, Logan’s family has set up a Go Fund Account: http://www.gofundme.com/logansusanaaron

There is an additional fund set up too: https://www.firefamilyfoundation.org/tributes/detail/articletype/articleview/articleid/357/walter-martinez-jr-angel-fund
