Expanding Vocabulary – No Batteries Required

On Tuesday, Dec. 1st, 50 volunteers from Assistance League of Los Gatos-Saratoga distributed 1,296 dictionaries to 43 classrooms in 9 schools as part of Campbell Union School District's College and Career Curriculum Strand.  Students get to keep the dictionaries for their personal use at home or at school. 

As part of the presentation, each volunteer taught a short lesson on dictionary use, using games and suggestions. Typically, presenters wear their college sweatshirts or career uniforms and discuss how literacy will affect the students' lives and future education.

The Assistance League of Los Gatos-Saratoga has been part of this annual tradition providing dictionaries for every third grader in the District for the past nine years.
