Kindergarten Art Program Highlights

Kindergarten has had 10 art lessons so far. We started with hearts filled with line for our Square One project. Next we learned about the artist Piet Mondrian, geometric shapes and straight lines and made a collage. Next our focus was curved lines and spirals and we drew and painted like the artist/architect Hundertwasser. We used line and shape to make colorful sugar skull drawings for Dia de Los Muertos. We drew turkeys and painted them with warm colors. Next we did a city collage using geometric shapes then we learned about organic shapes and did a collage in the style of Henri Matisse. We used line to draw winter trees and did a watercolor resist with the cool colors. We then made cardinals after reading the book No Two Alike and seeing the work of illustrator Charlie Harper. Tuesday’s class painted gingerbread houses. ~Mrs. Hardt
