Campbell Union School District and its partners will present a special screening of “Angst: Raising Awareness Around Anxiety.”  The event will feature a viewing of the 56-minute film, followed by an informative panel discussion led by mental health experts.

“We are seeing students and their families challenged by, and sometimes struggling with, anxiety. As educators, we want to reduce or remove barriers to our students excelling in school and in life,” said Campbell Union School District Superintendent Shelly Viramontez.” Hosting this film offers a forum for talking about it, gaining positive strategies for dealing with it, and normalizing something that all of us experience at some time in our lives. ”

The screening will be held Monday, March 19, 2018, at 6:00 p.m., in the Campbell Heritage Theater.  Appropriate for ages 10 and up.  Free tickets available at eventbrite.com!

The preschool-8th grade Campbell Union School District is hosting the screening in partnership with the county’s School Linked Services program, the Campbell Union High School District, and the independent online streaming platform IndieFlix and its IndieFlix Foundation. Input from parents, staff and other community members is very important to us in Campbell Union School District. Because we know you are very busy, we are offering a new, online way to provide your thoughts, ideas, and questions to us. It is called Thoughtexchange, and we hope it will be a convenient way to engage and communicate with us about our District and schools.

On the morning of January 16, you may have received an invitation email from Thoughtexchange with simple instructions on how to participate in this process, which will be open through January 26.  (If you do not have an email account, use this link to our Thoughtexchange.)

With Thoughtexchange, you will be asked to share your thoughts on several open-ended questions, and to read and rate the thoughts and ideas of others. Our intent is to connect with parents, teachers, community members, students, and our district staff to gather thoughts, ideas, and questions they may have about our District and schools in order to continue meeting the needs of our elementary and middle school students.

Please look for the January 16 Thoughtexchange email or use this link to our Thoughtexchange.

California has launched a new website designed to help communities across the state access important information about K-12 districts and schools. The California School Dashboard features easy-to- read reports on multiple measures of school success, including test scores, graduation rates, English learner progress and suspension rates.

An important note: The fact that 11 of our District’s 12 schools are Dependent Charter Schools caused an error in the Local Indicators section of the Dashboard reports. Each of our 12 schools has a rating of MET for Local Indicators. To see detailed information about the Local Indicators, select the Campbell Union School District dashboard.

The Dashboard is part of California’s new school accountability system based on 2013’s Local Control Funding Formula. It is the next step in a series of major shifts in public education that have raised the bar for student learning, transformed testing and placed the focus on equity for all students.
