Results of the state assessments that 3-8 grade students participated in last spring were electronically sent to parents and guardians last week. The Student Score Reports are part of the annual assessment program known as the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) system.

Much like a photograph, the state tests are a snapshot in time. This is just one of the multiple measures our teachers use to assess student progress towards mastery of grade-level standards.

The reports were sent as a secure document via ParentSquare. If you have not received your student’s report, please contact the school to confirm that the correct contact information is in our PowerSchool system.

Parents and guardians also may view the report by logging into the parent portal on PowerSchool, our student information system. To log in, go to https://ps.campbellusd.org/public/home.html.

Welcome to the 2022-23 school year!! Whether you are new or returning to our schools, we are happy to have you in our Campbell Union School District Family! For weeks, our staff has been preparing facilities and teachers returned ready to prepare engaging lessons that will boost student learning, growing and achieving.

  • This year, students will have more opportunities for hands-on learning as our elementary teachers integrate a new science curriculum into their instruction.
  • Schools will be able to hold more in-person gatherings, like Back to School Night and various family nights that build community and support student learning.
  • As we learn to live with COVID-19, families can find information about the guidance for responding to the virus in our schools and district workplaces on our COVID-19 webpage.

We all have had to adapt to the changes the pandemic brought to us, and it challenged us personally and as an organization. As we transition out of pandemic and into endemic, we carry valuable lessons and experiences that will help us lean into the healing process and move forward into a new year of success for our students.

The district’s Governing Board appoints members to the Citizens Oversight Committee to review school district spending, ensure bond and parcel tax revenues are spent only for the purpose set before the voters, and to report its findings to the public.

Committee members represent various parts of the community: businesses, senior citizens, taxpayer organizations, and parents of students enrolled in the District. Members serve for a term of two years without compensation and for no more than two consecutive terms. (Education Code Section 15282(a))

Campbell Union School District operates classes for preschool through eighth-grade students from the communities of Campbell, Los Gatos, Monte Sereno, San Jose, Santa Clara, and Saratoga. The bond funds help to repair and improve the district’s 12 elementary and middle schools. Parcel tax funds, set to expire in 2023, support instructional programs that directly benefit students.

Applications are available by contacting Christina Tran, Campbell Union School District, or 408-364-4200 ext. 6215.  More info on District’s Oversight Committee web page.

To ensure that its classrooms and labs support hands-on 21st Century learning and that repairs are made to aging and outdated facilities, the Campbell Union School District Governing Board has placed a local funding measure on the November 2022 ballot.

“Some of our schools are 50 to 60 years old and in urgent need of repairs and modernization,” said Board President Richard Nguyen. “This bond would enable us to complete some of the planned projects for our facilities that were impacted by increased construction costs.”

If approved by local voters, the measure would complete these projects without increasing current tax rates.

“The bond funds would allow us to continue providing safe and up-to-date schools that meet the learning needs of students and enhance local property values,” said Superintendent Shelly Viramontez. “Keeping our schools well-maintained requires long-term planning. For our students to be prepared to compete in high school, college and beyond, the District needs to ensure that its classrooms and labs are safe and have the infrastructure needed to prepare students for real-world opportunities.”

Responsible fiscal management is a core tenet for Campbell Union School district. CUSD has earned one of Moody’s Investor Services highest credit ratings, stating that the district’s fiscal management “has been a pillar in the district’s commitment to maintaining a strong fiscal profile. The District’s Citizens’ Oversight Committee reviews school district spending and ensures that school bond and parcel tax revenues are spent only for the purse set before and approved by the voters.
