August 3, 2012
Welcome to the new school year at Fabulous Forest Hill! I sincerely hope you are still enjoying the summer and finding time to relax with your family and friends. The first day of school is right around the corner! We look forward to greeting old friends and making new ones, using our minds for exciting thinking and learning, and opening our hearts to support and care for one another. Forest Hill is a great place to be each day. 2012-2013 will be a fantastic year as we continue to build a positive, safe, consistent, predictable school culture filled with Respect, Responsibility, Safety and Caring. Below please find pertinent information to help ensure a smooth start to our year.
Tentative classroom assignments will be posted in the front office window on Friday, August 17th at 4 PM. Please remember that these assignments remain tentative until enrollment stabilizes, a process that often takes a few weeks. We do our best to minimize any changes, but must accommodate incoming students to our school. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation. To find out your child's class assignment, you will need your child's Student ID number. The ID number can be found on the Pupil Information/Emergency Contact sheet enclosed with this letter, and on the address label of the envelope.
The safety of our students is VITAL and your compliance with the following traffic and parking procedures is imperative to ensure the children's well being.
This is now available on the school website, http://foresthill.campbellusd.org/ under Student Handbook. Please take time to read it with your child as it contains important information about Forest Hill and our expectations.
Hot lunch is offered in the cafeteria. Full price is $3.00, reduced price is 40 cents, and milk costs 40 cents. An application for free or reduced lunch is included in your first day packet. Please complete this form and return to us in order to receive approval in a timely manner.
We strictly enforce the dress code. Students need to dress respectfully for school and avoid flips flops, wheelie shoes, spaghetti straps, short shorts and skirts, and super baggy guys' pants.
First Day Packets:
The first day of school your child will receive a packet of information and key forms. Please fill these out promptly and return then to your student's teacher.
Clear communication between the school and home is crucial to the academic success of each student. Every Friday, we send home a white envelope, known as the Friday Folder, which includes important district, school, teacher, and PTA information. Please read this information carefully in order to familiarize yourself with school activities, opportunities, and educational practices. Sign and return the envelope to school on Monday morning.
Every other week our school newsletter, Falcon Features, will be available online through email. We will provide hard copies in the office and to families who let us know that is their preference. This is one of the many ways we are working to become greener and save paper. The URL for this service is http://lists.campbellusd.org/lists. You can also sign up once school begins.
School Web Site:
Check out this site for important and interesting information. The district has been working to upgrade the web site this summer, including PTA forms and updated calendar information. The overall calendar for the year will be available in later August. http://foresthill.campbellusd.org/
The PTA is a vital part of the Fabulous Forest Hill community! This dedicated group helps support our many programs. We invite you to join our PTA and be part of the action! Involvement in your child's school life provides children with a solid sense of the value of education. The PTA is sending membership information home on the first day of school. Take an active role in our school/home partnership! You will love it!
Look for information on our Direct Donation Campaign in your first day packet!!
Back to School Night will be on Wednesday, September 5, beginning at 6:00. Please mark your calendars and plan to attend this important night! Stay tuned for more specific information in the coming weeks.
